PRCA Scotland 'Secrets of my Success' with Luke Skipper
Free
Join us for the next in this webinar series where we will talk to industry veterans about their career journeys. We’ll be meeting with professionals who have chalked up decades in the industry to tap into their wealth of knowledge and experience to help members as they forge their own paths. We’ll discuss how they started in PR, the best piece of advice they were given by a manager or mentor, career highlights (and lows), what they’d tell their younger self, and top tips for those starting out. Our May guest is Luke Skipper, Chief Communications Officer with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team.

Born and raised in Canada, studying politics and international relations at Queen’s and Edinburgh Universities, Luke Skipper has spent the 20 years working in politics, lobbying and communications. His career started as an intern in the Scottish Parliament working for the Scottish National Party, progressing though research positions in the European Parliament and House of Commons to become the Chief of Staff of the Party there in 2006. He played a leading role in developing the strategies of many successful elections, including the landslide SNP victory in the Scottish General Election in 2015.
After that election he joined Weber Shandwick working in lobbying and corporate commsunications. Clients included major energy, defence, construction, whisky and retail companies. He moved in-house to become the Director of Communications and Public Affairs of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in 2022, which is the governing global body for motorsport and mobility clubs. There he led a complete communications overhaul, targeting new audiences through improving owned and earned content and coverage.
He recently joined the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team as Chief Communications Officer, responsible for external and internal comms for the team. Aston Martin is one of ten Formula One teams, competing in the FIA Championship, the highest category of open-wheel racing around the world.
