Navigating Numbers – A New Approach
Our refreshed Navigating Numbers course takes a new approach to training. Instead of presentation, we have participation. If you like watching someone at the front of the room present some slides while you sit quietly and take notes, then this course is not for you. Find another one.
But if you like to work in teams to solve challenges and explore what makes a successful campaign (whether you are in-house or in-agency) then this is your chance to play, learn new skills, and then apply those ideas in real life.
By the end of the course you will understand the basics of campaign management, be ready for the unexpected, and know how to apply new ideas in the real world.
We all know we learn more when we have fun. This programme will give you a fun introduction to the world of campaign budgets.
When you enter the room, you’ll be assigned a team. Your challenge is to work with your teammates to deliver a successful campaign. First, you’ll pitch for work, thinking about your business model and strategy. You’ll need to make a choice about which project to go for, and then define a budget to ensure success.
We’ll talk campaign management, budget management, objective setting and measurement, drawing on lessons from successful campaigns and the OASIS framework.
After a bit of theory, you’ll need to be ready for the unexpected. Will your client pay on time? Is there a new opportunity which needs more money? Will your CEO get cold feet? Maybe your celebrity spokesperson does something dodgy? Maybe your budget is suddenly cut? How will you react? Will your campaign succeed?
In half a day, you will get a chance to explore the balance between theory and practice. You will learn the principles ... and the practicalities... of campaign management and budgeting. Theory, yes. Principles, yes. Practice, of course!
