Breaking barriers and building futures: Hark’s commitment to gender equality this International Women’s Day

Victoria Millar and Kathryn McColl from Hark

Opinion

International Women’s Day isn’t just a celebration—it’s a call to action. A day to champion women’s achievements, shine a light on discrimination, and demand real progress toward gender equality.

As female founders - and parents of girls - this mission is close to our own hearts. We want the next generation of women to grow up in a world free from bias, barriers and outdated stereotypes. At our business, Hark we speak to young people every single day. We hear firsthand about the misconceptions, prejudice and challenges that hold young women back. That’s why we’re not just talking about change, we’re actively driving it.

We’re incredibly proud to work with clients who share our commitment to gender equality. This #IWD, we’re celebrating their game-changing work, supported by Hark, that’s transforming opportunities for young women:

  • The Football Association - Powering up the Biggest Ever Football Session on Friday 7th March 2025, bringing thousands of girls together to play football at the same time, proving that the game belongs to everyone.
  • EngineeringUK - Inspiring thousands more girls to explore STEM careers by amplifying the voices of female role models, through Tomorrow’s Engineers Week.
  • The British Army - celebrating women’s voices in history, from WWI to today. Through case studies and filmed interviews, their education resourceshighlight women’s impact on the war effort and challenges outdated narratives.
  • The Premier League Charitable Fund – Breaking down stereotypes and driving conversations in primary schools through their Tackling Gender Stereotypes campaign and equipping 4,000 female football teams with essential kits.

These organisations and many more, are not just opening doors; they're dismantling the barriers that have long held young women back.

To them, and to every advocate for equality: Thank you for taking action, challenging the status quo, and making the future fairer for the next generation.
